The Moravian star is known to have originated in the 1830s at the Moravian boys school in Germany as a geometry lesson. Adopted by the Moravian church as an advent symbol, it soon found its way around the world and into many different cultures. Today, in the eyes of the Peruvian artisans that hand craft these from copper and glass, the Moravian stars are seen as a symbol of new beginnings.
